-The more you understand God's love for you, the more you will talk to him about your needs and wants.
Goodness of God on trial since the start.
-God created the tree of good and evil. It was good but he not good for man.
Why did God make the tree knowledge of good and evil then?
-Because of free will; if God made everything good for man, then man would have ONLY good to choice from and no opportunity to exercise free will. God wanted to have a real loving relationship with Adam and Eve whereby they choose to love Him and obey him despite an opportunity to disobey God.
Could God stop Adam from eating the fruit?
-Yes but he would have violated man's free choice.
Because God is just, sin must be punished and judged.
God was the first to kill an animal to appease the justice of God caused by the sin of Adam and used the skin to cover Adam and Eve.
After the fall, God said that one from Eve's seed will crush he serpent's head. So from then on, the devil has been out to destroy and kill baby boys so that he can prevent then from happening.
Praise The Lord Jesus came, lived, died and dealt a death blow to Satan and disarmed all his powers.
When man tries to assume on his own goodness, he finds disappointments.
The introduction of the law because Man presumed on his goodness.
-Rom 5:20
'The came at the side, so that sin could abound and be seen as exceedingly sinful.'
Although the law is good and perfect, was not God's main agenda. It came as a side line.
The law was designed to control man from the outside in.
Grace is designed to change man from the inside out.
Deut 1:27 - reveals the heart of the Israelites, they said God hated them and brought them out from Egypt to let them die. They did not really believe in the goodness of God's heart.
Why does bad things happen to good people?
Ans: The question is not accurate because in the first place there is ONLY one good that suffer - Jesus. There is none other that is good.
Let the self life and self dependance die.
Luke 13:1-17
Parable of the Vineyard with a fig tree in it.
What does the fig tree represent?
-Another scenario is when Jesus curse the fig tree and then started teaching about faith.
-this fig tree could well represent the self life where we think we are of any good to have God show his attention and love towards us.
v. 8 'dung' what does dung represent?
-Phil 3:8-9, dung is anything u do that makes u think that u are scoring brownie points with God in the natural. ie self-righteousness.
Key lessons:
Depending on none of self but all on God helps us to enjoy all of God's protection, blessing and love!
To be disappointed in yourself is to have depended on yourself.
Look outside yourself to your new self in Christ and not to your old self.
Trust God to let your troubles bring you strength instead of bring us down.
Once we find ourselves occupied with self and our surroundings, turn and be occupied with Christ and His surroundings
Transfer your trust to The Lord and experience His awesome sustaining wisdom, strength and guidance!
