Watch Out, Iceberg Ahead!

"There is a way that seemth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 16:25.

It has been 96 years and 7 months since that great ocean liner was lost. Constructed in Belfast, Northern Ireland, that ship was the largest vessel at that time. The world was waiting to see this magnificent ship make her first voyage between Southampton and New York. The date was April 10th 1912 when she set sail with 2,207 passengers and crews. All seems bright and beautiful but that was a trip that never made it home. 4 days later the Titanic collided with an iceberg and sank. 1500 died and 700 survived. What happened? I am sure none of them on the ship thought they were going to die. All of them had confidence in that ship because of her structure and intricate design. However they were all disappointed. Little did they know that an iceberg was ahead. Although the damage done to the ship was only the size of a normal size door, it caused that great Titanic to sink.

That great ship is like our lives. We think that we have it all figured out because of who we are, what we have done and what we will do. But little do we know that an "iceberg" is waiting for us at the end. We better watch out because there is an iceberg coming up and we do not know when it will hit us. God reminds us that, "it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this the judgment." Regardless of our skin color, intelligence or moral excellence, judgment will come because of our sins (breaking of God's law). All the lying, cheating, stealing, coveting, disobedience to parents, cursing of God and independence from God will one day be judged. Are you ready? You might think that you are fine but watch out, God warns in His Word that there is a way that seems right unto man, but it leads to death and destruction eventually. That judgment for our sins will everlasting fire in hell. There will be no "time outs" in hell, it will torment you forever if you chose to remain neutral or reject God.

Now you ask, I thought God loves all of us? Why will He do that? It is because He has already provided a way out and yet many stubbornly refuse His way because they want their own way. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh to the Father, except by Him (John 14:6)." All of us are naturally on the wrong way. That is why Jesus came, bled and dead for us. He rose again, lives and finished all the work and made a way out of hell and sin for us. Jesus did not say He is one of the ways, He said He is THE way. Even with that clear, many people still think that they can do it by themselves through good works, being good and trying their best. Sad to say, our best will never meet God's best because we all need Jesus to begin with. We can fight in life for many things, but we will surely lose if we fight with God who controls life and creation.

Let's say if a signboard titled, "Beware, Iceberg Ahead" was put up 5 miles before the iceberg, wouldn't that be great for the Titanic's crew? Surely it will be if they believed it and responded correctly. It is the same for our lives, God has place a signboard for the way of escape for us. But you know that you will never see it till you stop looking at yourselves(your own opinions and ideas) and look up to Jesus. The sign reads, "Beware of Judgment, Jesus is the only way out!" You can choose to ignore it now but you cannot give the excuse that you never knew about it when you stand before God in judgment one day. That day will come. You can spend all your life fighting God and arguing about, judgment will still come because God cannot lie. I pray that you will not wait till you drop into hell because it will be too late. I know it is hard to swallow that but you know, God has already prepared a way if we will just swallow our pride of life and humbly submit ourselves to Him.

No matter how bad you think you are and how messed up in the way you think you are, Jesus wants and is able to rescue you. If you know that there is a tug and pull in your hearts, that is Jesus saying, "Believe, open and invite Me into your heart today." He promises to forgive all your sins, give you a new life and everlasting life in heaven. Don't spend you life chasing and running in circles, you will get frustrated, disappointed and ultimately hopeless. Come and trust in Jesus who died for you. He is all-powerful to do what He has promised. It is hard to really trust anyone but you know it's not hard to trust the One who died for you! You might be great now, but remember the Titanic was great too. You might think you are fine and only did certain wrong things, but remember the damage Titanic suffered was only the size of a normal-size door. Cast all your dependance off yourselves and onto Jesus alone today. Surrender and ask Him to cleanse, change and control your life today. "Watch Out, Iceberg Ahead" May you not ignore the warning!
