Happiness Quote

Happiness is a way station between too little and too much.  ~Channing Pollock, Mr. Moneypenny

Be humble, be happy.

To be honest is the first step, the next is to be humble. Many forfeit happiness because we were only honest to admit our problem but not humble enough to ask for help. Many times, I have tried to portray a tough front to others because I think I am strong enough to handle the issue on my own. Maybe it's a same with you. Be it a personal physical, emotional, or spiritual issue, we need not only to be honest but humble enough to ask for help. Humility is simply seeing ourselves as we really are. That we (as much as we think are right and strong) often tend to foolishness and errors. Many problems can be solved if families and friends were not only honest but humble enough to say, 'I am sorry, please help me.'

As many would agree, 'the biggest problem or enemy we have is ourselves.' Many times we blame others when the problem is really with ourselves. True? Why? Because we all have the same problem. A sinful/fallen nature that tends to foolishness and errors. How many times have we lied, deceived others, cheated and done things to others that we would never want done to ourselves. It's scary when we stop to think about this. No one has to really teach us how to sin. It's pretty much natural. We are finite creatures. That is why God tells us we all have sinned and have fallen short of His standard.

That's why we need to be honest and humble about our biggest problem before God. He is the one that has the ultimate solution for our sins. When we have a problem, we don't just find someone off the street to help us, we go to the one who can help us. We go to the one who really knows us. Someone we know can trust to keep our secrets. And to the biggest problem of sin, we go to someone biggest than us. His name is God. Why? Because He made us and knows us better than we do. He is waiting for and calling you personally into a 2-way relationship. Because God loved us so much, He sent His only Son, Jesus to solve the greatest problem we have. It's important to start right in life. The distance between us and God(where true happiness belongs) is our sins.

Thank God He tells us, 'Happy are those whose sins have been forgiven and covered.'*  Those who are truly happy know truly that their sins have been forgiven and covered! In another words, we all need a clean sheet before we can be truly happiness.

It's not automatic or by chance that we find true happiness. It's a simply choice to turn from our sins and put our trust in the One (Jesus) who died for our sins and rose again for our redemption. May you be honest and humble about the need for Jesus and turn to receive His gift of forgiveness. Be humble, be happy!

*Psalms 32:1
"Before his downfall a man's heart is proud,
but humility comes before honor" God says in Proverbs 18:12

The New Bad

It seems as if everything is turned upside-down in our culture today. Think about it: Good has become bad and bad has become good. This is even true of the slang expressions we use today.

Back when I was a kid, words like "far out" and "groovy" were popular, although I could never bring myself to actually say "groovy." Some of these terms have gone by the wayside, but certain expressions dating back to the 1950s are still popular today, like "cool." Here in the 21st century, people still say "cool."
But today, we have another word, "hot," which means the same thing as "cool." To take it a step further, if something is really cool or really hot, we say that it's "bad."

If you have a really fast car, someone might ask you, "How fast will that bad boy go?" They wouldn't ask, "How fast will that good boy go?" because good is bad and bad is good. Everything is turned upside-down.

In the old days—back when more people would try to live a moral life—if someone did drugs or had sex before they were married, people would say, "Oh, that is bad," and "bad" actually meant bad.
But now in our twisted culture....

Nathaniel Hawthorne:
"Happiness is as a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you."
